The second week of the 12th Dubrovnik Winter Festival brings the world’s most famous ABBA tribute band!
After a spectacular start, the Dubrovnik Winter Festival enters its second week, bringing even more light, sound, and holiday cheer. The streets continue to pulse with the rhythm of Advent, creating an unforgettable atmosphere that delights visitors of all ages. Numerous events await, further enriching Dubrovnik’s unique winter experience.
On Saturday morning, 6 December, the colourful Winter in the Uvala Bay program begins at 10:00 a.m. with a creative Christmas workshop at café Esperanza, followed at 11:00 by a ship-modelling workshop (also at Esperanza) led by the Argosy Ship Modelling Society and the Nave Dumins Modelling Institute. At noon, local dance clubs will perform a Colourful Dance Collage on the stage by the fountain. The Advent city walk organized by the Dubrovnik Libraries begins at 3:00 p.m., with the first stop on Božidarević Street, where participants will learn about the history of the former church, the life of St. Barbara, and traditions linked to her feast day, along with highlights of other stops on the one-hour walk. The tour continues with stories about St. Lucy and St. Nicholas before ending at the Sigurata Monastery. At 4:00 p.m., the parish of the Holy Saviour in Mokošica will host a workshop on creating rope angels using macramé techniques, organized by the parish Caritas. At 6:00 p.m., St. Nicholas will arrive for the ceremonial lighting of the second Advent candle. At 5:00 p.m. at the Rector’s Palace, St. Nicholas and Krampus will make their entrance accompanied by the Dubrovnik Children’s Choir led by Paola Dražić Zekić and Sanja Dražić. This memorable gathering is organized by the City of Dubrovnik with support from the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, cultural institutions, and the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. At 6:00 p.m. on the main stage of the Marin Držić Theatre, children can enjoy the play Busy Little Bees produced by KD Aster. The program continues at 7:30 p.m. in Advent Park with a musical performance by Duška Brčić Šušak, bringing warmth and festive spirit to the evening.
On Sunday, 7 December, as part of the Awaiting Christmas in Mokošica program, three creative workshops for children and youth are planned. At 2:00 p.m., the Glowing Greeting Cards workshop will take place, organized by the Dubrovnik Association for Technical Culture. At 3:00 p.m., the 3D Pens workshop follows, jointly led by the same association and the Futura IT Club. The third workshop, Plaster Angels, begins at 4:00 p.m. and will be led by Ani Marčinko from the Et Ješua association. Also at 4:00 p.m., a themed guided tour titled Marin Držić’s Contemporaries will take place at Trg oružja, free and open to all visitors. The walk introduces participants to the life and era of Marin Držić. Later in the day, the stage in front of the Student Dormitory will host the beloved band Prljavo kazalište.
On Monday, 8 December at 11:30 a.m., Tirena will sail ceremoniously into the Old City Port, offering its rich Advent gastronomic experience and celebrating its 20th anniversary. It will remain there until 5 January 2026. On the same day, the holiday spirit of charity continues in Mokošica, where at 1:00 p.m. the Christmas Magic program will take place at the Mala Kuća kindergarten. As part of the event, a workshop on preparing "zelena menestra" (green stew) will be held, with the Matičević parents cooking alongside the children. Instead of tickets or food fees, visitors are invited to give voluntary donations, with all proceeds going to the charity Tata je tata. At 5:00 p.m. at Mala Kuća, Christmas Magic continues with a ceremonial opening featuring a traditional badnjak (Yule log) presentation by children from the Trsteno kindergarten, live nativity scenes accompanied by Advent songs by the Mala Kuća children’s choir, and a charity sale of zelena menestra and prikle (fritters). The evening program at the Marin Držić Theatre starts at 8:00 p.m. with the play Santa Claus Is Rubbish directed by Draško Zidar.
On Tuesday, 9 December, the theatre group Kolarin will perform the children’s play The Hedgehog’s Home at 5:00 p.m. at the Mala Kuća kindergarten as part of the Christmas Magic program, followed by a social gathering with fritters and warm tea for children and their families. In the evening, starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Dubrovnik Libraries – Lapad Branch, children aged four and up can participate in the Joy of Christmas program, which includes themed storytelling and creative workshops where youngsters will craft holiday decorations and create festive memories. At 8:00 p.m. on the main stage of the Marin Držić Theatre, the guest performance Naked in a Cage by the Moruzgva Theatre will be presented for adult audiences. At the same time, at 8:00 p.m., the Sabioncello band will perform in front of the Student Dormitory.
On Wednesday, 10 December, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., the Christmas Magic program at the Mala Kuća kindergarten in Mokošica continues with the play The Three Little Pigs produced by Aster Theatre. During the show, visitors can enjoy hot dogs and warm tea, and instead of ticket sales, a donation box will be available. All proceeds will be donated to the humanitarian association Tata je tata. At the Marin Držić House, an educational workshop titled Christmas at the Marin Držić House will take place (limited capacity). At 8:00 p.m., the Moruzgva Theatre will again present Naked in a Cage at the Marin Držić Theatre.
On Thursday, 11 December, in the afternoon hours at the TUP space (above Love Bar), creative workshops for children and youth will be held. The program begins at 3:00 p.m. with the Cardboard Trees and Stars papercraft workshop led by the Dubrovnik Association for Technical Culture. At 4:30 p.m., Lucijana Pendo / Aster Dubrovnik will lead a storytelling and creative workshop titled The Nutcracker, and the afternoon concludes at 6:00 p.m. with a Christmas Wreath Making workshop led by Anamarija Bezek / AB Atelier. At 5:30 p.m. at the Dubrovnik Art Gallery, a Christmas workshop for children led by Ivona Šimunović invites the youngest visitors to express their holiday spirit through crafting decorations and handmade ornaments. At 6:00 p.m. at the Supply Centre in New Mokošica, the charitable event Christmas Flea Market begins, featuring second-hand toy sales, short performances by children from the Pčelica and Sunce kindergartens, and socializing with fritters and tea. At 7:30 p.m., Advent Park will host a concert featuring energetic hits performed by Branko Medak. The evening at the Marin Držić Theatre is dedicated to the play The House Is Big, You Can’t Carry It directed by Roman Nikolić.
On Friday, 12 December, the ART UP fair titled Art for Everyone will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the TUP Gallery, showcasing the works of Dubrovnik artists. The afternoon is dedicated to creativity and imagination in the TUP space, with workshops for children and youth: at 3:00 p.m. a Christmas Wreath Making workshop (Anamarija Bezek / AB Atelier); at 4:30 p.m. a Christmas Painting Workshop led by Giovanna Kličan / Art Studio Kantunić; and at 6:00 p.m. the Recycled Plastic Christmas Decorations workshop by Maritimo Recycling. At 5:00 p.m. at the Bunić–Kaboga Summer Residence, a guided tour titled Architectural Time Machine: Walking Through the Centuries of the Bunić–Kaboga Residence will introduce visitors to the history and architecture of this landmark estate. At 5:00 p.m. in the children’s department of the City Library, Christmas art workshops led by Lena Kramarić will take place. The former Remiza parking area will once again host DJ Alex G at the Trash Party at 7:30 p.m. At the Church of the Franciscan Monastery of Friars Minor, a concert of international Advent and Christmas songs will be performed by the mixed choir Ina. At 8:00 p.m. in front of the Student Dormitory, the group Hrvatske ruže will perform, while on Stradun the world-famous ABBA tribute band Mania will take the stage at 9:00 p.m. Skating rinks in Lapad and Mokošica are open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays until 11:00 p.m. Due to weather conditions and optimal ice temperature, schedule adjustments may occur to maintain the highest safety standards. The carousel at Pile operates on weekdays from noon to 8:00 p.m. and on weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
To help as many residents and guests attend Advent events, free Libertas bus transportation is available on city and suburban lines within the Dubrovnik area every day from 5:00 p.m. until the last departure. Additionally, the price of the DU Pass, a combined ticket for Dubrovnik’s top attractions, has been reduced from 40 to 20 euros, increasing access to cultural sites during the Advent season.
The City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, and the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, in cooperation with cultural institutions and public companies, are preparing a wide range of events for residents and visitors of all ages. Once again, Dubrovnik is ready to shine in its most magical winter edition!
